HOTTRAX PREVIEW FOR BRANDS HATCH - SEPTEMBER 7th AND 8th

Thursday August 29, 2013 at 3:58pm

Ten points cover the top three teams going into the penultimate round of the ACU/Sorrymate.com National Endurance series at Brands Hatch on September 7 and 8.

IBL Racing (Mark Clark/Hudson Kennaugh) top the standings, but they now lead Team Traction Control (Steve Mercer/Ben Neeves) by just a single point after their victory at the last round at Pembrey.

Go Racing Developments (Greg Allsop/Andy Carpenter) are third in the points’ table, ten down on IBL Racing.

Adding spice to the three-hour race will be Team TT, made up of sensational Yorkshire youngster, Dean Harrison and his friend from Wigan, Russ Mountford, on a pair of big Kawasaki.

Team sorrymate.com (Colin Norris/Warren Verwey) top the National 600 class, but their lead over Pit Stop Racing (Peter and Marc Dilks) is down to 20 points.

TT winner, Gary Johnson and Nick Edgeley, racing under the Macca and Edge Racing winner, who took their debut win at Pembrey are back in action here.

TDM Racing (Terry and Mick Merritt) won the Clubman 600 Endurance class in Wales, making it five victories in six races and now lead their closest rivals, Thunder Chickens (Mark Gibson/Ellis Hadley), by ten points.

TANC 2 Racing (Grant Berry/Chris Mason) was first Clubman 1000 Endurance team home at Pembrey, increasing their lead over Fire IT Racing (Andy Goddard/Louis Turner-Laurent) to 49.

Greg Allsop (Yamaha) won all three Michelin Power Cup 1000 races at Pembrey, but he sill trails series leader, Tony Keilty (Kawasaki 1000), by 68 points and time is running out.

Wayne Humble (Yamaha) moved to the top of the Michelin Power Cup 600 championship after finishing second in the first two races and winning the third. Humble tops the points’ table on 313, eight more than William White and ten ahead of Richard Charlton to ensure an exciting end to the season.

Andrew Robert is well clear of the opposition in the 1000cc Rookies, but it is getting tight in the 600 class, where Richard Telford (Kawasaki) took over at the top of the standings, after rival Jordan Greenshields (Yamaha) failed to finish in one of his races. Telford has 328 points, five more than Greenshields.

Steve Bridle (Suzuki) had four top-four finishes the Motogrande 600 races at Pembrey to stay in the championship lead. He has 231, 17 more than James Edwards, who won all four races.

Andrew Haines (Yamaha) is still top of the Motogrande 1000 championship, despite a low scoring day in Wales. He is on 198, 15 ahead of Benjamin Fortt (Kawasaki).

Graham Hornby (Honda) had an even worse weekend and slipped to third in the points, 18 down on Haines. Hornby broke his right collarbone when he crashed in practice, but ignored the pain to finish second in both MotoSolo races to stretch his lead in the series to 19 points over Colin Norris (Yamaha 600).

Dave Wood Jr and Tom Hallifax have dominated their respective Ducati Due classes all season. Wood extended his unbeaten run in Class A to 14, while Hallifax was equally dominating, once again, in Class B, winning all of his four races to keep his 100 per cent record for the season.

Laurie Sands hopes increasing his lead in Formula 400 cc class were  dashed when his Kawasaki broke down before a race was run at Pembrey.

His main rival, Martin Parkhouse (Kawasaki) won three of the four races, but crashed out of the fourth and trails Sands by 11.

Bob Barton (Suzuki) has a 74 point lead in the Supersport class after his main rival, Wayne Morris (Kawasaki) had a big crash in his first race at Pembrey putting him out of the entire meeting.

Stuart Bayliss (Concept Comms Aprilia Performance RSV-R) was unbeaten in the Superbike class, extending his lead in the championship over Owen Richardson to 55 points.

Robert Eagling is top of the Megabike standings, 22 points ahead of Matt Lobb.

Joe Connolly has a colossal 310 point in the Maxitwins class going into the Brands Hatch meeting.

The meeting will also include the Hottrax Motosolo King of Brands, run on the Indy circuit over two 18-lap races on the Sunday.

It will be open to all competitors entering the weekend’s events.

Practice starts at 9.00am on the Saturday with racing under way at 11.15am. The action starts at 11.30am on the Sunday. Adult admission is £13 on both days, with children under 13 admitted free.
