Thundersprint at Darley Moor

After the success of this year’s Thundersprint at the Anglesey circuit, the Thundersprint moves to the heart of England for the 2014 event.

Thundersprint organiser Frank Melling said: “We had a great time in Anglesey and enjoyed a truly warm welcome from the Anglesey Circuit and the people of Anglesey.

“However, a lot of our customers live in central England and they were pressing us for a location nearer to them. When we were approached by the Darley Moor Motorcycle Road Racing Club (DMMCRRC) to re-locate to their fabulous circuit, set in the heart of the beautiful Derbyshire Dales and yet only 20 miles from the M1 motorway, we didn’t require much persuading!

“The Darley Moor Motor Sport Centre circuit is the best kept secret in motorcycle racing. It’s a great racing track, in stunning parkland grounds, and with a history going back over half a century. In short, it is the perfect venue for the Thundersprint.

“The enthusiasm for the move shown by regular Thundersprint riders has been very pleasing with entries flooding in for an event which is 11 months away. With the amount of interest being generated we could run Thundersprint 2014 next week!”

Eddie Nelson, Secretary of the DMMCRRC, said: “We already have a long standing, and very happy, relationship with the Thundersprint having organised the racing side of the event at Northwich for many years.

“We are keen to develop the facilities at Darley, for the benefit of the whole motorcycling community, and hosting the Thundersprint will enable us to do this.

“The DMMCRRC, and the Darley Moor Motor Sport Centre, will also benefit tremendously from the professionalism and marketing expertise of the Thundersprint. Together, we aim to put on the best event in the world.”
