Super Hot Racing at Round 3 British Youth Nationals

Round three of the 2013 ACU British Youth Nationals headed to the all sand circuit of Fatcat Moto Parc in Doncaster this past weekend for more best of British youth motocross.

With temperatures soaring into the 30's riders were advised all weekend to drink as much fluid as possible and stay out of the direct sunlight. Thankfully everybody did just that with no reports of dehydration.

Joe Rizzi set the pace in the 65cc class with the most consistent performance of the weekend to take the overall win. Curtis Trimble ripped to second place ahead of unlucky Lewis Hall who DNF'ed moto 2 which ended his chance for an overall victory.

Ross Beard, Jack Galvn and Buster Hart all rode exceptionally well in the exhausting conditions.

Joe Rizzi:"I won three races at Fatcat, it was really hot all weekend but I coped ok with it on both days."

In the BW85 class it was all eyes on Jay Hague who set about the weekend to win all races in the blistering heat of Fatcat.

Jay didn't quite manage it but still won the overall class from hard charging and moto 2 winner Albie Wilkie and third placed Dexter Douglas. David Galvin, Shane Lock and Ben Edwards rounded out the top six in two days of tough racing.

Jay Hague: "It was good weekend at Fatcat, I enjoyed it a lot. I've been riding on hardpack lately and it worked out ok as some parts of the track got really hard. The track was rough and the jumps were great, I'm still leading the championship which is the main thing going into the final round at Milton Park."

Callum Green won 5 out of the 7 races in the SW85 class from his closest rival on the day Harry Kimber who took a race win in moto 2 on Saturday. Nathan Claughan raced to victory in the final moto on Saturday but just didn't do enough to finish on the podium. Third placed rider was Jed Etchells who stayed ahead of Nathan for that elusive podium spot. The top 6 all battled well on both days with Dylan Woodcock and Archie Osmaston finishing 5th and 6th respectively.

Callum Green:"I did quite but I crashed a few times which is not what I wanted. I think I took a few bad lines which made me crash maybe even my suspension a bit. My brother carried my umbrella which kept me out of the sun most of the weekend, drinking plenty of water was most important as well."

It was a battle royal in the open youth class with a number of riders taking wins over the two days. Jack Kelly, MXY2 British champion Rob Davison and John Adamson all shared the wins but Jack Kelly kept focused and won by 10 points from Davison and the stylish Adamson. If any of the top 3 were to make a mistake the chasing pack of Brad Todd, Ollie Osmaston and Nathan Dixon were ready to pounce - great weekends racing by all.

Jack Kelly:"That was a good weekend, I'm happy to come away with the overall win. I head to Milton Park with a 51 point advantage so I'm happy with that. I would like to thank my sponsor Mick at Malin KTM for all their help this year, if it wasn't for him I wouldn't be able to race."

The only maximum of the weekend was achieved by Daniel Hutchinson who also secured the British Under23 title one round early.

Daniel absolutely ripped in all 4 races and now heads to Milton Park 101 point advantage.

Carlton Husband and Adam Darbyshire did their best to stay in touch with four solid rides to finish on the podium.

The top 6 was completed by Michael Mahon, Shaun Springer and Luke Newman.

Daniel Hutchinson:"It's been a really good weekend with four wins, I couldn't really ask for more. The under23 championship really is a good event, next year the class will be a lot bigger with the exposure we have had this year. The track changed quite a lot as this morning I had a scoop tyre on and then changed to a intermidate, it was pretty firm underneath espeically on the take off's. I coped with the heat all day but I think I drank 5 litres of water so far today."
