SNOW RETURNS FROM INJURY TO CONTEST PREMIER CHAMPIONSHIP

This Sunday the Phoenix Tools Premier Motocross Championships resumes with round 7 at Garlands Moor, Nr Holsworthy. At the last round the Expert Open Championship lead was to change hands after Luke Hawkins on the Phoenix Tools Honda was penalised for outside assistance and it is now the Oakleaf Kawasaki of Shane Carless who goes in to round 7 with a 10 points lead and will be looking to increase that advantage, but joining him in the Expert line up after a long injury will be fellow Oakleaf rider Alex Snow who will be looking to do well. Other Experts include the likes of John May, James Dodd, Wayne Shimell, Tom Moore, Kelvin Townsend, Luke Mellows, Luke Hill, Brad Cavill, Michael Rowe, Todd Kellett plus back from injury on the MX-Zone Suzuki will be last years Champion Jamie Skuse plus many others.

In the Tyremarks Junior Championship there was some of the best racing seen at the last round and this is expected to continue with all the top runners in attendance. Welshman Jay Thomas on the K J Services KTM leads the Championship, but he knows any big mistakes could put pay to his lead over the charging Lewis Barfoot who moved up in to 2nd at the last round who in tow has Christian Dicks just 13 points behind him in 3rd. Other riders include the likes of Jonathan Cole, Josh Gilbert, Anthony Milliar, Toby Harvey, Ty Kellett, Ryan Williams plus many more.

In the M D Racing Over age classes the racing has got really competitive and thrilling. In the over 35 class its Mark Wilde who heads the standings from Gavin Flagg by 77 points, but in 3rd is last years Champion Jason Fraser who trails Flagg by just 7 points and will be looking to move up, but there is plenty of other talent looking to catch up like the likes of Jamie Deadman, Martyn Tucker, Rick Hanson, Rob Lewis and Chris Brown to name a few.

In the Over 40’s its still Steve Locke who leads the proceedings and will be looking to maintain that lead over David Ford, but a man who is starting to move up the Championship is Jason Roberts who now lies in 3rd.

The Over 50 class has seen Keith Hanson so far this year dominate and has a far lead in the standings over Ian Nott, but its really tight between Steve Chugg and Tim Hawkins who are separated in 3rd and 4th by just 8 points so this could be the battle royal on what is a really fast flowing track.

Garlands Moor will be signposted off the A3072 Holsworthy to Hatherleigh Road (Sat Nav EX22 7TA) with the first race at 10-30am. Still places available for more info ring Mel Martin on 01626 365335.
