LONG TRACK GRAND PRIX SUCCESS FOR RICHARD HALL

Yorkshires Richard Hall is celebrating the best performance of his career after winning the FIM World Long Track Grand Prix in Marmande, France, on Saturday evening.

On his return to the UK, Richard commented “hopefully this can help me with improved confidence and better performance for the rest of the season, as to date this is the best result of my career…… I am just over the moon”.

Richard finished in seventh and fourth places at the two previous Grand Prix events (one in Finland and the other in Norway but topped the podium at the spectacular French track to put himself into third place in the  current championship standings which are now at the halfway point of the series.

ACU success was not just confined to Richard, with Leicester speedway rider David Howe finishing in a fine third place to continue his long return to full fitness, and put himself into eighth place overall with three rounds of the Grand Prix championship remaining.

The ACU’s third rider, Glen Phillips, put in some strong performances to finish eighth on the night, although engine issues prevented him from finishing higher up the finishing order.

Track Racing Committee Chairman, Peter Gregory praised the three British riders for their fantastic result, and was pleased that the ACU Team were running into top form in time for the FIM World Team Long Track Championship - which this year will be held at Swingfield in Kent on the 18th August – where the  British team hope to avenge the narrow defeat by the German Team  twelve months ago.
