CARLESS OUT TO CLOSE GAP AT PREMIER ROUND 6

This Sunday the Phoenix Tools Premier motocross Championship moves in to the second half of the series with round 6 set to take place at Rushmead Raceway, Marshfield, Nr Chippenham.

In the Expert Open class it is Luke Hawkins on the Phoenix Tools Honda who leads the Championship by 12 points from the Oakleaf Kawasaki of Shane Carless who will be out to close the gap with newly wed and last years Champion Jamie Skuse looking to do similar there in 3rd. As usual with this series there is a good line up of Experts and that includes the likes of John May, Loukas Maggio, Luke Mellows, Kelvin Townsend, Wayne Shimell, Ben Butler, Lewis Gregory, Luke Hill, Tom Moore, James Dodd, Mike Rowe, Luke Blanchard plus young 16 year old Todd Kellett who moves up to the Expert ranks.

In the Over 35, 40 and 50 class there is great interest which has many riders from yesteryears competing including the likes of current Over 35 Championship leader Mark Wilde who will be joined by the likes of Gavin Flagg, Rob Lewis, Rick Hanson, Chris Brown plus making a return from a long injury is 2010 Over 35 Champion Richard Cuff.

In the Over 40’s class it’s Steve Locke who heads the proceedings and will be looking to increase his Championship lead, but he will have to be at his best as he will be up against the likes of Mark and Jason Roberts, Wayne Gill and Exeter pairing of Paul and David Ford plus wildcard one of Britain’s finest Veteran riders now at the age of 49, former 125 British Champion in 1986 and British 4-Stroke Champion in 1989 Greg Hanson.

Keith Hanson heads the Over 50’s Championship and will be looking to do well, but in his way will be Ian Nott, Tim Hawkins, Steve Chugg and Paul Huggett plus many others.

In the junior class this is set to be close yet again as there are many different riders capable of taking the wins including Championship leader after the opening five rounds Jay Thomas who took a hattrick of wins last year at this venue, Ty Kellett, Josh Gilbert, Ryan Williams, Jonathan Cole, Lewis Barfoot, Christian Dicks, Toby Harvey, Anthony Milliar plus many more who will be out to do battle.

Rushmead Raceway has easy parking with good viewing and will be signposted off the M4 Motorway at Junction 18 then off the A46 Bath road (sat nav SN14 8JG) with the first race at 10-15am. (Entries are still available, so if you want to ride give Mel a call on 01626 365335)
