Records Fall at Post TT Road Races

The 2013 Isle of Man TT Festival came to a close at the Metzeler Post TT Road Races, round eight of the Duke Road Race Rankings Championship.

Held in glorious conditions on the Billown Course, lap records were broken in two of the three races run on the 4.25-mile closed roads circuit which is home to the International Southern 100 Road Races.

The opening race for 125cc & 400cc machines saw local rider Chris Palmer take a start to finish victory from fellow Manxman Callum Collister, with Yorkshireman Mark Goodings third.

A tutonic battle ensued throughout the eight lap 650cc/250cc race between Dean Harrison, Jamie Hamilton, Ivan Lintin and James Cowton with the lap record falling on more than one occasion, eventually being claimed by race winner Dean Harrison at 101.803mph - all four having broken the 100mph barrier in their endeavours to reach the chequered flag first.

The feature race of the programme for Supersport (600cc) machines saw William Dunlop break his younger brother's lap record raising it to 108.283mph on the sixth of the eight laps, as he enjoyed a 25-second victory over Jamie Hamilton with Jamie Coward third. Ian Lougher and Ivan Lintin had their own private duel for fourth and fifth places - the elder statesman reaching the finishing flag first. Sixth place went to newcomer Robert Wilson.

Rankings leader Michael Dunlop was a non-starter due to lack of a 600 machine, retains his position at the head of the table, with fellow Ulsterman Jamie Hamilton moving up from fourth to second as a result of his two second places.

Race winner Dean Harrison also climbs two places from sixth to fourth, as does Chris Palmer up from eighth to sixth. William Dunlop moves from tenth to ninth.

Other high climbers are Ivan Lintin up nine to 13th; Ian Lougher up 10 to 25th and James Cowton up from 51st to 27th a climb of 24 places.
