Holmes Chapel based 'tyres on the drive.com' have agreed to sponsor Cheshire Grasstrack Club's meeting on 30th June at Gawsworth when the Jim Rowlinson memorial trophy meeting takes place. The trophy will be awarded to the winner of the 500cc solo class where speeds of 60 mph are achieved with no brakes.
Jim Rowlinson was a Frodsham garage owner who for many years helped and sponsored speedway and grasstrack riders from the county including former World Speedway champion Peter Collins MBE of Lymm who rode throughout his highly successful career for Belle Vue Aces. We are hoping as in previous years to have Peter present along with members of Jim's family, one of whom is employed by the sponsors. Current holder is Daniel Winterton of Buglawton but he expects serious competition from some of the UK's top riders. As well as the solo classes where current British 350cc solo champion Andy Mellish rides there is also the ultra fast and exciting 1000 sidecars competing.
