DARLEY MOOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP REACHES HALFWAY STAGE

The Darley Moor Motorcycle Road Race Club Championship reaches its halfway point when Round 4 takes place on Sunday 23rd June 2013.

Some riders will be very pleased with the way the season has gone so far, but others will be looking for a turn of good fortune prior to the second half of the season getting underway.

Out of the eighteen Championship classes, four have two riders tied on points at the head of the table and a further five classes have a gap of 5 points or less between the leader and second place spot. With this in mind you can guarantee there is sure to be some superb racing, all involving a number of top racers from the local area.

Danny Smith is currently equal on points at the head of two Championship tables, the Peak Cup and Open Solo, with Jim Hodson, this battle will be getting the racing underway next Sunday and is sure to continue throughout the season.

The Lightweight Championship has Chris Moore at the head of the table, leading Matt Zschiesche and Alex Woodhouse by just a single point. Woodhouse will be hoping or a problem free weekend as he is equal on points at the head of the Pre98’s (Up to 500cc) Championship.

The Pre98’s (Up to 1300cc) Championship is being dominated by local riders, Shane Pearson having a 5point advantage over David Large, with Ian Morgan a further 9points behind in 3rd place.

Reg Richardson leads the GP125 Championship by just 3 points, with Ricky Tarren 9points adrift, in 3rd place and hoping to reduce this margin. As usual the Formula125 class will race alongside the GP machines and Stephen Campbell will be hoping to extend his 3 point advantage at the head of this Championship.

Anthony Porter is also leading a Championship, having a very healthy 35point advantage in the Pre Injection 600 class.

Two Matlock racers are leading the new, for this year, Classic Championships; Gordon Thorpe, with a very commanding 42point lead in the Classic 500 and David Bradley, a 12 point lead in the Classic 1000.

Gary Dangerfield is currently 2nd in two classes, just 6points behind the leader in the Formula Darley category and 10points in the Mini Sound of Thunder class, hopefully he can reduce the deficit this weekend.

Dean Ephgrave is currently 3rd in the Steel Framed 600 Championship, just 3points adrift from the top of the table.

Fans of three-wheeled motorsport can cheer on the pairing of Dean Banks and Lee Saunders as they try and reduce the 6point gap they have from the top of the table in the Formula 600 sidecar class.

Four-wheeled motorsport fans get the opportunity to cheer on a number of local racers when Darley Moor’s regular guests the Long Circuit Kart Club take to the track; Steve and David Morris, Simon Waldron, Mark Tilley, Alan Flewitt, Lionel Sifleet, Mark Gellatly and Phil Endean.
