Tonfanau takes place this weekend (26th August)

Thursday August 23, 2012 at 9:16am

There are few places left in Britain to watch 50s in action, but Tonfanau, the Welsh seaside circuit, always attracts a good line up for every meeting.

Ten of these exotic racing machines will line up for the Crewe and South Cheshire club’s fourth and final race meeting of the year on Sunday, August 26.

Can Kevin Burton keep hold of his 12 point lead over Roger Naul and Steve Nugent?

Only one of the Crewe and South Cheshire club’s 15 solo and sidecar championships have been settled going into the fourth and final race meeting of the year at Tonfanau.

With 30 points up for grabs on the day in each class the rest of the very varied titles will be decided over the day.

Martin Powell, the veteran 50-year-old policeman has topped the Open class after every round, but his 21-point lead over David Atkinson is not yet enough to make sure of retaining the title.

Kimberely Rose, the talented woman road racer, is keen to retain her 125GP title, but she has a narrow three point lead over veteran Ted Cornes.

Only those two have entered the meeting leaving it a straight fight.

Practice starts at 9.0am, with the 27-race programme underway at noon.

The presentation of awards will take place at the end of racing.
