Club MSV introduces 50 new riders to the world of competitive motorsport at Snetterton
The debut round of the Club MSV Bike Trackday Trophy got underway on the Snetterton 200 circuit on Bank Holiday Tuesday, as dozens of novice riders lined up for their first-ever taste of competitive bike racing.

The event featured a solo race and a team endurance event, and more than 60 racers participated in the meeting, 50 of whom were lining up on the grid for the first time. The majority of the rookie riders also gained their ACU race licence with Club MSV, the in-house trackday organiser for major UK circuit owner MotorSport Vision. Television crews from Motors TV came along to film for the programme ‘Bike World’ which is due to be aired today (Thursday 7 June).

The 45 minute solo race proved to be an intense encounter between Daniel Diamond and David Fields, with the pair consistently lapping within a second of each other. Diamond’s Suzuki GSXR eventually prevailed, and he stretched an advantage of five seconds in the closing stages over Fields’ similar machine. Joe Goggins claimed the final podium position on his Lexicon Racing Yamaha R6, riding a 600cc bike against his 1000cc rivals to win his class at the Norfolk circuit.

The three hour endurance race saw the ‘Team Fastbikes’ trio of Simon Roots, Andrew Saunders and Benjamin Cronin claim the honours on their Kawasaki ZX7R. Team ‘Brothers Grim’ of Daniel and Alexander Milton claimed second place on a Suzuki GSXR while Jonathan Collett and Russell Brown secured third place on their Aprilia Mile.

Club MSV Manager and Series Organiser Alex Baker hailed the success of the first round, saying: “We’re really pleased that we had such a successful first round at Snetterton this weekend. We have a great bunch of novice racers in the series and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves which is ultimately what it's all about.

“For future races, we're looking at introducing a rider tag system so that teams with multiple bikes and riders can take part in the longer team races. Details on this will be announced in the coming weeks. Our attention now turns to Brands in August - we're looking forward to it already.”

The next round of the Club MSV Bike Trackday Trophy takes place on Saturday 11 August at Brands Hatch, with the finale at Cadwell Park on Saturday 6 October. For more information visit www.biketrackdaytophy.co.uk or call 0843 453 3000.
