The 2016 FIM Trial World Championship kicked off with two fiercely fought days of competition in Cal Rosal, Spain as the elite riders looked to get the new campaign started in strongest way possible.
In the Trials GP class British rider James Dabill on the Factory Vertigo secured a maiden GP podium for the team, and the second of his career on the second day of competition. The third spot on day two for Dabill made up for only managing to finish ninth on the opening day during two days when very little separated the riders
In the Trial2 class both Dan Peace – Gas Gas and IwanRoberts – Beta struggled on the opening day and finished fifth and sixth respectively. Iwan Roberts – Beta bounced back from a disappointing opening day one to produce an almost faultless ride on the second day of the Spanish GP to secure victory with a score of just one mark. Jack Price – Gas Gasalso made amends for his slightly poor performance on Saturday by stealing the last podium position today by a single mark. Roberts now leads the Trial2 general standings, from day one winner Arnau Farre – Gas Gas with Price currently holding third overall.
It was a winning debut for Britain’s Jack Peace – Gas Gas in the Trial
125 class as he produced a dominant performance over his similarly young rivals. Peace, who recently turned sixteen years old, ended day one just fourteen marks which was twenty-four marks clear of eventual runner up Max Faude. On the second day Britain’s Jack Peace – Gas Gasmade it two wins from two starts in the Trial125 class on his debut weekend to take control of the overall championship standings with a maximum forty points.
