Dabill wins round two of the RT Keedwell sponsored British Trials Championships

Round 2 of the RT Keedwell sponsored British Trials series moved across to North Yorkshire last Sunday with the Richmond clubs Low Row Trial. The venue had been successfully used last season and it was no different this time, testing but rideable for the majority.

Michael Brown had won at the opening round in the Championship class but this time his main rival James Dabill would take the honours but by just 3 marks. Michael started by dropping early marks before he got into his stride and maximums at the 3rd a long rocky uphill gully and the eighth did not help the cause. It was in fact Jack Sheppard who set the early pace on the 'Roundhouse Beta' as he finished lap 1 at the front. This was going to be a good day for the very talented youngster who could not quite hang on but who would never the less finish on the podium, his best senior BTC result to date. Dabill and Brown matched each other on laps 2 & 3 posting identical scores which left everyone else trailing but Dibs had done enough early on to take the win.

Local rider Richard Sadler proved his liking for the local rockery with fourth but like Jack Sheppard the final sub caused his a few problems with the downhill rocky river section and steeply banked exit proving difficult.

Young Ossa mounted Billy Bolt had an excellent day finishing 11th overall he put in the best performance from the newer riders in the series.

Over 30 rider contested the Expert Class and it proved to be another win for Guy Kendrew. Guy was coming in on the back of a fine fourth place at the recent SSDT and he rode with confidence all day loosing just six marks half that of his nearest rival James Stones. Stones actually managed the best lap in the Experts when he went around the 12 subs totally clean on his second circuit but two 5's spoiled his otherwise very impressive day. Joel Edwards took third from Matthew Maynard but it could not have been close. Both lost 18 marks and it needed the tie break system to separate them.

In the youth group Tom Minta just got home in front of Tom Hooper but both look to be riders to look out for.
