ACU/Speedway Star Master's Grass track Championship heads to Kent

The Auto Cycle Union and the Speedway Star British Master’s Grass track Championship 2012 will be staged in the very heart of Kent on Sunday 2nd September at the Sandhurst Bridge Farm Raceway run by the Frittenden & District Motorcycle Club.

The Clubs event co-ordinator Ian Russell has secured some high profile sponsorship deals from Premiere Inn and high street giants Tesco’s. Tesco’s (Bexhill) Community Officer Hazel Lingham was so impressed at an earlier meeting; she contacted the club and offered their support. In doing so the store has been advertising the event over the year with seven other super stores doing the same in the Kent & Sussex region.

Local support has come from the spectacular Headcorn sky dive team. They will be opening the meeting with a skydive bringing the ACU flag with them to be hoisted in the middle of the track. Further entertainment will come from the Eastbourne Scottish Pipe Band and to add some glamour to the occasion the ‘Frittenden Fillies’ start line girls will be making their first appearance for the Club.

Once underway the action on track will be hard fought especially in the 1000cc Right-Hand sidecars, with reigning Champions Rod Winterburn/Liam Brown needing to be in top form to keep off the challenges from Mark Cossar/Carl Blyth, Rob Bradley/Shaun Simpson and local hero’s Rob Wilson/Terry Saunters and Pete Colvin/Steve Colvin all of whom have had success at the circuit in the past.

In the 500cc Solos reigning Champion Andrew Appleton could be on course to retain the Championship, however Wild Card Cameron Woodward is very much one of the favourites to win and in doing so could we have our very first Aussie British Masters Champion! Also in the mix will be high flyers Richard Hall, Glen Phillips and Paul Cooper with local man Martyn Sturgeon a possible dark horse for the Championship.

Camping from Friday night is £3.00 per pitch. Tickets are £17.00 Adults, Concessions £14.00 and Under 16’s FREE making a great value day out for the family. Sat Nav code TN17 2ED.
