James Dabill wins at Yeadon Guisley

The Yeadon Guisley Club's Mackenzie Trial was the penultimate round of the 2012 ACU British Trials Championships and the venue returned to its old stomping ground at Addingham Moorside.

Michael Brown went into the event leading the Championship from his old adversary James Dabill but Dib's was coming off the back of his best ever World Trial result was not in the mood to be denied.

Addingham was dry and the threatened rain did not materialise as the Experts good things underway at 9.30. John Crinson was holding a comfortable lead in the series but on the day he was beaten by a resurgent Richard Timperley who started well and kept his form throughout the day. Tom Affleck had a very consistent ride to take third place and the net result was he would take over that position also in the overall standings. Adam Milner who was holding that position had moved up for the day into the Championship Group. Danny Gamble finished in fourth his second and third laps being superb.

The youth class was to be a comfortable win for Like Walker from Iwan Roberts as the Sherco rider put in three laps all of which were slightly better than his rivals.

In the Championship James Dabill needed the win and that is just what he would get. His first lap for 10 marks lost was spoiled by a maximum on section 10. Michael Brown went through on this hazard for a two but he would still not be on terms with James as the lap finished. It was great to see both Jack Challoner and Jack Sheppard riding the series for the first time this season. Both would not be used to the no stop rules but they were in pretty good form from the start. It was another star from the past that would be up there with the top guys early on as Dan Clark held fourth after lap 1. It was not to quite last however although he would still end up scoring championship points.

Dibs carried on all through with only the 10th hazard causing him any difficulty and he would get the win from Brownie to go back to the top of the series leaderboard. We now go into the final round in September with Dabill having a 2 point lead over Brown. A win for Michael would be enough to take the crown but of course that will not be easy as James
