Bumper Weekend of Maxxis Championship Action at Langrish

Round seven of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship takes places at Langrish on the August Bank Holiday Monday (27th August), running alongside the traditional Ken Hall event on the Sunday.

The Sunday event will include classes for both Twinshock Solo’s and Sidecars, along with a round of the Dave Thorpe Evo Championship. The main attraction on the Sunday will be the fifth round of the ACU British Quad Cross Championship, as Paul Holmes looks to extend his Championship lead.
On the Monday morning the seventh round of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship and following the sixth round at Hawkstone, the MX2 championship lead has changed hands again with Monster Energy Bike It Yamaha rider Mel Pocock reclaiming the points lead. After an unfortunate DNF at Hawkstone, Elliott Banks-Browne now sits 16 points behind Pocock in second with Neville Bradshaw further back in third place.

The MX1 class has seen Kevin Strijbos on the HM Plant KTM UK machine slowly edging ahead in the Championship chase. Following a clean sweep of race wins at Hawkstone, Strijbos now leads Shaun Simpson by 49 points, with the injured Matiss Karro in third place. The hard pack, good viewing circuit at Langrish will hopefully play into the hands of Simpson as he looks to close the gap going in the final round.

Langrish will also mark the final round of the Championship for the MXY2 riders. Following a long season of close racing Dan Thornhill currently leads the standings by 29 points over Robert Muscat in second and Robert Davidson in third place.

Action on the August Bank Holiday Monday will start at 9am with practice and the first MX2 race leaving the start line at 12:15pm. Tickets for the Maxxis Championship on the Monday cost £20 for Adults and £5 for children under 14, for more information see www.mxgb.co.uk.
