What's on Weekly-13th and 14th August
This weeks ‘What’s on Weekly’ features more events from around the country. Here is a selection of just a few events taking place.

Motocross

This weekend the Maxxis ACU British Championship makes its penultimate stop at the spectacular Circuit of Duns in Scotland. With three different championship up for grabs, it’s going to be an exciting days racing at the hillside circuit. In the MX2 class, Swiss rider Arnaud Tonus on the Bike It Wildwolf Cosworth Yamaha will be returning to British Championship action and currently holds a commanding lead over Elliott Banks Browne on the DB Racing Honda and could claim the title at Duns. Jake Nicholls on the HM Plant Red Bull KTM UK machine will be looking to show his form at Duns after finishing in 5th place at the recent Czech Republic Grand Prix. Other riders to look out for will be Neville Bradshaw, Bryan Mackenzie, Mel Pocock and Mattis Karro.
The MX1 class Brad Anderson will be looking to seal the 2011 championship with a round to spare, Anderson currently sits 67 points ahead of Samsung Yamaha’s Kristian Whatley who pulled out of the previous round with an injury. Waiting in the wings is Martin Barr on the Boost Energy Drinks KTM, who is only three points behind Whatley will be looking for glory after winning the overall at the last round. Added excitement at the Duns will be the return of former British Champion Billy Mackenzie as he prepares himself for the British Grand Prix at Matterley Basin the following weekend. Other riders looking for a good result will be Gert Krestinov, Tom Church, Alex Snow and Nathan Parker.
The spectacular Duns track also plays host to the final round of the MXY2 Youth Championship. HM Plant Red Bull rider, Ryan Houghton heads to Duns with an eleven point lead over Jordan Divall who will battle it out over two races. The Duns circuit is situated about 15 miles inland from Berwick upon Tweed and is easily reached from the main routes into Scotland. The postcode for the venue is TD11 3NS. Practice will be starting a 9am and the first race goes off the line at 12:15 with the first MX2 race.

Following the Success of the July Meeting the fourth round of the Eastern Centre Youth Motocross Championship will be taking place at Sculthorpe, near Fakenham in Norfolk. The event will be starting with practice at 10am and is hosted by the Norfolk MXC. Sunday’s event is open to all Eastern Centre ACU licence holders and club members with no day membership required. The club is offering free camping from 16-00 on Saturday Aug. 13th. The meeting will feature Autos, 65s, 85SW’s, 85BW’s, MX1 Schoolboy, Adult Open & Adult Over 35. With just over a week left until the FIM Monster Energy British Grand Prix makes its return to Matterley Basin on August 20/21. The biggest motocross event is back on UK at one of the best tracks in the world. The last major event to be held at Matterley Basin was the Motocross of Nations in 2006 and the British Grand Prix is sure to be a superb event featuring the world best riders competing for glory. Tickets are still available online at www.britmxgrandprix.com with a 10% discount as well for booking them through the website. So be sure not to miss out on the biggest motocross event of the year, and support Britain’s top riders in their quest for glory.

Trials

This weekend the ACU British Youth C and D Championship reaches its final stop, while the A and B Class will reach their penultimate round at the Arthur Smith Youth Trophy Trial. The weekend event will see the C and D classes complete their seasons on Saturday, before the A and B compete on the Sunday. In the D Class Billy Green currently leads the Medium size wheel ahead of Daniel Slack. In the D class Small wheel, Reece Gazzard leads the ways. In the C class Medium wheel Joe Faunthorpe currently heads the championship, while Jack Peace leads the C Class Standard wheel championship. On Sunday the A and B class will be taking to the course for the penultimate round of the year. In the B Class Iwan Roberts holds a slim lead over Jack Price, while in the A Class Chris Stay leads Bradley Cox for championship glory. The event will be starting at 10am on both days.

On Sunday 14th August the North Becks MCC will be hosting a Trial at Seymore's Arena, Aston Tirrold, Nr Didcot, Oxon, OX11 9AW. The event is due to start at 11.00 am and is an arena type event, starting with qualifying rounds in the morning, culminating with the top 6 riders going head to head in a final in the afternoon. Sections are all man-made consisting of rocks, gulleys, tree trunks and waterfalls. This is the 4th time the club has organised this event, for anyone who has not attended in the past it’s an event not to be missed as it brings all the top riders into the South which is a very unusual occurrence. All the country's top riders have entered: James Dabill, Michael Brown, Alexz Wigg, Jack Challoner, Sam Haslam, Ross Danby, Ben Morphett, Jonathan Richardson, George Morton, plus European rider Loris Gubian. Also attending at the event will be all of the top Trials manufacturers with their trade stands. Camping is available from Friday night with Food stalls and a special feature on Saturday evening is a minders' trial which is very entertainment. Grass Track

This year’s ACU British Masters will be taking place on the 14th August at Swingfield in Kent, with all the action taking place on the Sunday. Reigning champions Andrew Appleton in the 500cc Solo’s and Mark Cossar and Carl Blyth in the Sidecars will be looking to retain their titles. After all the exciting and thrills of last year’s event at Rhodes Minnis in Kent, all things are looking set for a superb meeting this year. With a solid line up of 1000cc Sidecars and 500cc Solo riders all competing for the British Masters titles, it is sure to be an exciting meeting. This year’s ACU British Masters Championship will be taking place at Swingfield near Folkestone. The Astra Grasstrack Club will be working hard to produce a superb venue in Kent for this year’s Masters Championship. Swingfield will be signposted off the A260 Folkestone to Canterbury Road.

On Saturday the 20th August the third round of the ACU Track Racing series will be coming to Coventry Stadium. The meeting will be starting at 7:30 and features the best Sidecar Speedway outfits competing against the best Sidecar Grass Track outfits in one championship. Reigning Track Racing Champions Matt Tyrell/Mark Courtney will be doing battle against the current British Masters Grass Track and Sidecar Speedway Champions Mark Cossar/ Carl Blyth from nearby Rugby. Also thrown into the mix will be Ex Masters Champions Rob Wilson/ Terry Saunters, Paul Whitelam/ Alan Elliott and Gary Jackson/ Henry Rogers.

Road Racing

Classic Racing returns to Darley Moor on the 13th and 14th of August with the sixth round of the Classic Racing Motorcycle Clubs championships. There is a packed programme of 40 races on both days catering for pre 1972 Classic and pre 1984 Post Classic solos and sidecars. Feature races include the 1300cc Classic Racer Syndicate Race. Practice starts at 10am on Saturday and Sunday with racing following on shortly afterwards.

Two days at this fantastic Anglesey circuit will help decide who are likely to be the top riders of the year. There are 50 points up for grabs in each of the 20 championships this weekend. A slip up now will prove disastrous for championship aspirations. NG Road Racing are once more hosting the prestigious 250GP ACU National Championship, we along with the series sponsors, ACU, Dunlop and Fraser’s of Gloucester are providing an outlet for these pure-bred real racing machines. With Yamaha’s TZ250 lining up alongside Honda’s RS we are sure of great competition. This is the only place that you will see these Grand Prix derived machines competing in a full National championship anywhere in the UK, so strong grids of fast riders are guaranteed. Ant Hodson, Dan Jackson and reigning champ Andrew Sawford are locked in battle for 2011 championship glory. As well as the feature races, there is a packed 20 RACE PROGRAMME of events each day for all types of racing machines. With all tastes catered for from 125’s to Superbikes and from home built specials to highly expensive Italian race exotica. The Anglesey circuit (sat nav: LL63 5TF) is situated on the Island of Anglesey. Practice and qualifying is from 9am with the first race proper starting at 11:00am on Saturday and about 10:00am on Sunday. Admission is just £15 per day.
