Sunday saw the Woodbridge and DMCC host a motocross meeting under the September sunshine at the Blaxhall Circuit. After the long summer of the wet weather, the riders turned out in good number ready for a great event. With a 3 groups of Experts and Junior graded riders along with a group of 2 stroke warriors battling it out.
The day started with practice and qualifying sessions to sort the riders into their groups for the remainder of the day. The day started with the opening race for the B group and it was Matt Smith that stormed to victory ahead Joe Anderson and Adam Gordon in third. Fourth and fifth places went to James Holt and Callum Reeve.
The second race of the day was for the A group, when the gate dropped it was Aston Bird and Luke Benstead that made the start and produce a stunning start to finish race long battle. Lewis Tombs rode will to finish in third place after recovering from a slow start, finishing ahead of Luke Parker and Harry McKenna in fourth and fifth.
In the first C group race of the day it was Andrew Rushden that took the win ahead of Steve Cadd and Matt Watkins, with fourth and fifth place going to Leon Raby and John Smith.
Before the lunch break it was time for the first race of the 2 stroke group, feature a few riders competing two classes. The first race had to be stopped after just a lap due to an injured rider. In the rerun it was Brad Howlett that took the early race lead ahead of Jason Morland and Steve Bixby. As the race progressed it was Steve Bixby that took the win over young Lewis Houghton and Jason Morland in third. Howlett finished in fourth over Darren Redman in fifth.
After lunch it was time for the second B group race and again Matt Smith took the victory over Joe Anderson and Adam Gordon. Fourth and fifth place went to Will Hempstead and Simon Clover.
The second A group race of the day produced another fantastic battle between Luke Benstead and Aston Bird, with Benstead again taking the victory over Bird and Tombs. Fourth and fifth places went to Ben Talbott and Jason Morland.
In the second C group of the day it was to be Bruce Bavin that took the win over Steve Cadd and Andrew Rushden. In fourth place it was to be Tom Burn ahead of John Smith.
The second 2 stroke race of the day produced another close race between Steve Bixby, Jason Morland and Nathan Braithwaite. The victory went to Bixby, ahead of Morland and Braithwaite. Lewis Houghton clinched the fourth place over Brad Howlett.
In the final B group race of the day Matt Smith was looking to make it three wins out of three, but a crash on the start left him out of the running. Victory went to Joe Anderson ahead of Adam Gordon and Simon Clover. Fourth and fifth places went to Austin Eary and James Holt.
The final A group race saw Luke Benstead make it three wins from three races, followed home by Aston Bird and Lewis Tombs. Fourth place went to Jason Morland ahead of Harry McKenna.
The last C class race of the day saw Steve Cadd take the win over Bruce Bavin and Andrew Rushden in third, fourth place went to Matt Watkins and Leon Raby in fifth.
The final race of the day was the last 2 stroke race of the day and after another great race it was Steve Bixby who took the win over Nathan Braithwaite and Jason Morland. The fourth place went to Lewis Houghton and Brad Howlett finished in fifth place.
The Woodbridge Club also finished the day with the club members Sue Jenness Trophy Handicap race, which saw Aston Bird take the victory.
