Team GB Create History at 2016 ISDE
Following the recent achievements of the ACU Team GB Trophy team at the ISDE held in Navarra, Spain where Danny McCanney, Jamie McCanney, Nathan Watson and Jamie Lewis represented Team GB, the ACU would like to congratulate the team on their fine performance to finish in second place behind the USA reaching the podium in the Trophy competition for the first time in over forty years.

The 2016 event saw a new four rider rule put in place which meant that all four riders’ scores would count each day. This meant it would be even more important for the riders to ride smart and ensure that they finished each day.

A strong start to the competition where the team finished the opening day in third place, gave the riders and support much hope for the remaining day. Even after slipping to fourth place at the end of the third day the team dug deep and turned things around, moving up to second place after the fifth day.

The Trophy team cemented their silver medal placing with fantastic results at the traditional ‘Final Cross’ on the last day of the International Six Days of Enduro. Nathan Watson charged through to win his heat on the unusual Supermoto style track while Danny McCanney finished a respectable 2nd place in the tough E3 heat. Jamie Lewis and Jamie McCanney both provided error-free performances to bring home the medals.

ACU British ISDE Team Manager, Dusty Martin: “I’m at a loss for words! I’m just absolutely chuffed! What the riders have achieved this week is brilliant and I’m proud to have managed such strong and talented teams. This 2nd place for our Trophy riders proves the level of skill throughout the team, and our young riders have really impressed with their maturity. Suffice to say I’m extremely happy with the work done by everyone during this ISDE!”

ACU Chairman Brian Higgins congratulated the team by saying, “with my Six Days background I fully understand what a superb achievement our four riders have achieved. Having said that, the ISDE is a massive team effort and I need to put on record our thanks to the large support crew who for many years have given up two weeks of their time. Maybe we can go one place higher in 2017??”
