IT may be well known as the home of Speedway, but Peterborough Arena and the East of England Showground has a brand new exciting event to showcase this summer.
Following the success of sidecar racing at the venue earlier this year during the BMF show, Peterborough Arena audiences are about to experience the thrills and exhilaration of 1000cc sidecar racing.
Speed fans and visitors from across the region will have the opportunity to see this incredible sport at an exclusive meeting at the East of England main arena track on Saturday August 23.
Reigning Track Racing and British Masters Champions Mark Cossar and Carl Blythe will take to the track to do battle with rival crews in what Peterborough Arena bosses estimate will be packed event.
This ‘launch’ event will be the first of what will become and annual date in the venue’s calendar – said Peterborough Arena managing director Keith Dalton – and the only chance in the region this summer to see these top class riders in action.
Keith added: “We are thrilled to have the 1000cc side cars for a dedicated event at the venue. This is one of the most exciting spectator motor sports around and we anticipate an incredible night with a line up of top rides competing.
“We hope to make this an annual event at the Peterborough Arena, giving the public another fantastic opportunity to share in the venue and put the city on the map as an entertainment centre.”
The excitement kicks off at 7pm – with over 20 races during the evening. Tickets are £10 ,with free entry for under 15s. The venue offers ample free parking.
