Bumper Weekend of Grasstrack Action this August Bank Holiday

The 2014 August Bank Holiday weekend is fast approaching and what a weekend we have in store. First of all on the Continent we have the World Longtrack Team Cup from Finland. The Great Britain team, comprising of Andrew Appleton, Richard Hall, Glen Phillips, David Howe, and managed by Mitch Godden, will be looking to bring home a medal from Forssa. They will be racing against some of the top European stars from Germany, France, Finland, Czech Republic and Holland.

Also on Saturday, at Bad Hersfeld in Germany, is the FIM Grasstrack Youth Gold Trophy 125cc.  Competing for the UK and carrying the flag are Kyle Bickley and Zach Wajtknecht. Good luck to the two youngsters.

Back in the UK on Saturday evening (7:00pm tapes up) Sidecar Speedway is back with a meeting at Peterborough Show Ground, home of the Peterborough Panthers Premier League team.  Mark Cossar & Carl Blyth will be up against such names as Paul Whitelam & Kieron Ivy, Robbie Wilson & Bradley Steer, Gareth Winterburn & Billy Winterburn and Shaun Harvey & Danny Hogg.

On Sunday it’s the Country’s biggest event of the year, the International Lincolnshire Poacher at Thorpe St. Peter nr Skegness. Reg Blackbourn has again come up with a superb line-up. Included are Tim Nobes, Danny Warwick, Mitch Godden, Paul Cooper, Richard Hall, James Shanes and Georgie Wood, and from the Continent Bernd Diener 2012 Poacher champ, Mark Stiekema and Joel Nystrom in the Solos. In the Sidecars you have defending champions Rob Bradley & Shaun Simpson, 2011 winners Rob Wilson & Terry Saunters, two-time champs Myles Simmons & Kevin Woodley, Masters Champions Colin Blackbourn & Martyn Smith, as well as the Winterburn’s - Rob with Liam Brown in the chair and Gareth with Billy Winterburn passengering. Also invited, for the first time, are the Uprights and they include Bob Dolman, Paul Evitts, Johan Last, British Champion Steve Newsome, Steve Daw, Wim de Haas and Arnie Anderson.

On Monday we have two meetings - the return of GTSA in Kent, and Peterchurch at Vowchurch in Herefordshire.
