With the majority of the Suffolk area suffering rain shower all day, the weather gods were kind to the Blaxhall circuit near Woodbridge on Sunday, as a bumper entry of 140 riders enjoyed an exciting days racing. The meeting included three groups of Adults, along with a line up 85cc riders.
The A group featured around 20 Expert riders, including a few British Championship riders, along with the fastest Juniors of the day. The opening race saw two stroke hero Steve Bixby make a fantastic start and lead Aaron Pipon, James Cottrell and Liam Knight early on. As the race progressed Cottrell moved into the lead only to make a mistake and hand the race win back to Bixby. Cottrell would take second ahead of Pipon, Knight and Luke Parker in fifth.
The second A Group race saw young Liam Knight storm to the front and take the holeshot ahead of a better starting Cottrell. The battle at the front would see Knight lead the race for the opening lap until Cottrell found his way into the lead. Cottrell went on to take the race win but Knight pushed him hard until the finish for second with Bixby, Parker and Pipon rounding out the top 5.
The final A Group race saw Knight make another great start and hold onto the lead for longer this time, but once again Cottrell found a place to pass and took the race win ahead of Knight. Third place went to Bixby with Parker and Sid Evans taking fourth and fifth.
In the B Group it was George Ellis who dominated the field taking all three race wins. Second overall on the day went to James Holts after taking a third, second and fourth place finishes, with Ben Alexander in third overall with two seventh and a third. Fourth and fifth overall went to James Suckling and Joe Cornwell.
The C Group saw Troy Wharton take the first two race wins, but it was to be David Whitehead who took the overall win with two second and a race win. Second overall went to Stephan Palmer with Kenny Russell in third overall. Fourth and fifth overall went to Troy Wharton and Lewis Dorling.
The fourth group of the day was the 85cc class, which saw a mixture of big and small wheel riders competing on the sandy Blaxhall circuit for the first time in a number of years. The stars of the future produced some fantastic racing, with national riders Brett Pocock and Max Bickers battling for the race win in the first race until Bickers suffered a heavy crash. At the end of the day Brett Pocock would take the overall victory with three race wins ahead of Max Bickers and Matthew Pocock in the Big Wheel class. In Small Wheel class Ben Clark took the victory ahead of Drew Kemp and Kyai Bailey in third overall.
