Guy Martin Retains Ian Watson Spring Cup

Guy Martin retained the Ian Watson Cup at the popular Oliver's Mount opening road race of the season and the first round of the Duke Road Race Rankings Series 2014.

The Tyco Suzuki rider opened his account with a four-second victory in the first race of the day, the Senior A (1000cc) Final, following that with a five-second win in the Junior (600cc) and completed his first 'hat-trick' of the season with another four second win in the feature Ian Watson Spring Cup Race.

The two Super Lightweight (650cc SuperTwins) races provided Ivan Lintin with double victory, in both cases ahead of the returning Ryan Farquhar, with Alistair Haworth taking the chequered flag in both the Lightweight (Up to 400cc) races.

Daley Mathison, took the honours in the Senior, B Final, Jamie Coward in the Junior B, with Matthew Rees winning the Non Qualiifers race.

Ivan Linton's double combined with his second in the Senior A race, a similar position the Junior A and third in the Ian Watson race puts him at the top of the rankings with 250 points.

Guy Martin is in second place, 40 points behind, with James Cowton third a further 48 points adrift.

Dean Harrison, Alistair Haworth and Seamus Elliott complete the top six of the 44 who scored points at the conclusion of the first of the 27 rounds in the Championship this year.

The second round of the Duke Road Race Rankings take place on Saturday 26th April at the Cookstown 100 National Road Races.
