BRITISH TITLE RENAMED IN CONNOR’S MEMORY
The ACU British Under 21 championship is to be renamed this season in a tribute to the late Connor Smith. Following full consultation with Connor’s family, the 2014 series will be officially known as “The Connor Smith Six-Sixty British Under 21 Championship”. The Six-Sixty refers to the popular young Scot’s racing number.

Rising star Connor was widely expected to be a leading light in this year’s British championship and was one of the favourites for the Under 21 title.

“Quad racing is a small and tight-knit community and Connor is missed by many people,” said British championship promoter Chris Murphy. “So we think that honouring him in this way is a fitting thing to do.”

Connor’s father Bill added, “We are proud to see Connor remembered like this. He was liked by all and loved by many.”

In addition, the third round of the British championship at Dean Moor in Cumbria on June the 14th and 15th will also be an official Connor Smith Memorial Meeting. The two-day event, hosted by the NETT club, will feature three British championship races, a full programme of NETT championship classes, plus solos and sidecar races. It is expected to be one of the biggest quad events of the year.

Registration for the British championship is open now and details can be found on the NORA-MX club website at www.nora-mx.org.uk. NORA-MX is promoting the series on behalf of the ACU this year.

The series kicks off at Pontrilas on April the 20th before taking in Foxhills, Stratford, Dean Moor, Mildenhall and Canada Heights.
