South Midland Tough Ten Trial Sponsored by Putoline Oils

Saturday May 18, 2013 at 2:17pm

The third running of the Putoline oils sponsored South Midland Tough Ten Trial will take place on Sunday, the 2nd June, at Round Rocket Plantation, Gerrards Cross, Bucks. SL9 0QP with a 10-30am start. The single round of the South Midland Youth Championship will take place within the trial and competitors for this championship must live within the South Midland Centre.

The trial will follow the usual format of four laps of ten sections, all on private ground by the kind permission of the Haslam family. It’s a cracking trials venue with plenty of parking and Sizzlers burger van will be in attendance.

Three main routes will be planned with Experts and Youth A riding the white, hard route, Intermediates and Youth B will ride the middle red route, with Novices /Clubmen as one class, together with Youth C riding the easier blue route. As Sam Haslam, and hopefully a few others of his standard, will be riding there will be yellow deviations of the white route to create an Elite Expert class.

The trial is open to all riders from any Centre that hold an ACU Affiliation Card, and the severity will be set to provide a real challenge to the top 50 % of each class in any Centre without huge steps or excessive difficulty, so about sensible National standard. The Elite Expert route will be approaching National Championship standard, so if you want to challenge Sam, that is the route for you! If Sam is the only Elite entrant, he will be demonstrating how it can be done!!

The punch card system will be used with lap scores posted as the trial progresses with results at the end of the trial. Winners in each class will be presented with a nice trophy and the first three in each class will receive a Putoline Oils ‘goody’ bag of their products. In addition, the South Midland Youth Championship winners will be presented with their trophies and John Lee & Sons, Motorcycles, from Higham Ferrers will be donating some ‘goodies’ also, so every rider that signs on will be given a free raffle ticket and a draw will take place at the presentation for these items. Who will take the tyre home this year!!!

Regs can be found in The Sporting Motorcyclist, in TMX or the Berkhamsted website, berkotrials.com or the HUX MCC website. So come on all you enthusiasts for a good days sport, get your entries in now to save the extra cost of day entry and give us the ability to provide a rider list. Most officials are already in place, but if you fancy observing or punching cards, give me, Ted North, a ring on 01923 267736 or 07976  043027 to let me know.
