Always known as the ‘Clubmans National’ the ‘Manx’ first took place in September 1955 and from the start attracted many riders from the adjacent Islands to the mecca of motorcycling in the middle of the Irish Sea.
Already world renowned for the TT and Manx Grand Prix races, it was proposed in late 1954 to run a two day time and observation trial to provide a diversion for those people already on the Island for the Manx Grand Prix Races.
Now, 57 years later and firmly established as a core part of the Manx Grand Prix Festival the ‘2-day’ is a firm favourite on the Trials calendar and over the years has attracted all of the top names in Trials sport to the Island.
The August Bank Holiday weekend in 2012 will see the event celebrate 50 years of sidecars becoming part of the event. Plans are underway to mark this anniversary in a number of ways and hopes are high for a bumper sidecar entry to help the celebrations go with a bang!
Entries
Entries are now open for the 2012 event, and will remain open until 31st March 2012, or until full. Regularly attracting a solo entry of over 250 and a sidecar entry of over 35 it is clear that the trial has a loyal following. The event itself takes place as usual over the August Bank Holiday weekend and gives visitors the opportunity to watch some Manx Grand Prix practice and racing around the TT mountain course. To obtain the necessary entry forms just go to the website and you will find them all available.
Travel Discounts
The organisers are pleased to confirm that they have negotiated a discount with the Islands ferry company to enable all competitors to get 10% off their fares to the Island. I’m sure you will agree this sounds like a welcome boost during these difficult economic times. Details of how to take advantage of this offer are available to download from the event website www.manx2day.com.
Staying in Touch
To coincide with the entries becoming available for the 2012 event, the organisers have also launched a great new website. Available on the website are details of how to get an entry, copies of past results and a gallery which will expand over time.
You are also able to follow the Manx 2 Day on Twitter, just search for @manx2daytrial for the latest news on what’s happening. And finally you can also ‘like’ the Manx 2 Day’s very own Facebook page as another method of staying in touch.
