Chairman of the Sudbury Motor Cycle Club competes the Inter Continental Rally

Gavin Hockey Chairman of the Sudbury Motor Cycle Club is competing for the second time in the Inter Continental Rally which starts in Almeria Spain (Spain) and finishes in Dakar Senegal (Africa). Gavin flies out on Friday 27th January to Almeria, over the weekend check his machine over and sign on ready to start on the Monday for a journey of nearly 4000 miles over 14 days.


This will be a real test of endurance for 44 year old Gavin and this year is riding to raise funds for two good causes one of them being the Dave Roper Memorial Fund, established to support young up and coming talented riders in the Sudbury Motor Cycle Club. The other good cause is the Brain Injury Charity Headway. So far £500 has been collected and it is hoped that a sum of £1000 can be reached. The Rally after leaving Spain goes through the African Countries of Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal while the daily routes are selected so that their character captivates the participants, leading them through miscellaneous parts of the European and African continents including the Western Sahara Desert. Gavin’s riding number is 227 Team UK 3 and his daily progress can be followed on www.intercontinentalrally.com and videos are available on a daily basis.
