This weeks ‘What’s on Weekly’ features more events from around the country. Here is a selection of just a few events taking place.
Motocross
Following a three year break the penultimate round of this year’s BYMX series makes a very welcome return to one of the world’s great MX courses - namely Desertmartin in Northern Ireland. The Porters Pit venue approx 30 miles from Belfast played host to a Maxxis round quite recently and duly received universal praise for the quality of the racing circuit - the high standard of the facilities - and the professional organisational skills shown by the Cookstown club. With just two rounds remaining to decide the final championship positions Alexander Brown riding the MotoOne KTM holds a commanding twenty point advantage in the Junior 65cc section. In the S/W 85cc division it's a similar scenario to the one found in the 65's. Conrad Mewse has dominated all season long having won four of the five rounds. The B/W 85cc section has developed into a real roller coaster ride. Early season pace setter Tom Neal fell foul of unfortunate injury between rounds three and four and now the current championship leader Liam Knight is extremely doubtful following his injury at Canada Heights. If Knight doesn't make the start line in Northern Ireland it will be heartbreaking for him with most of the hard work already in the bag. At present Knight has a nine point lead over joint second placed Jack Gardner and Brad Todd. Gardner on the MX World Honda won round five. Adam Sterry won the previous two rounds and he now represents a seriously strong challenge to the season long front running KTM pair of Championship leader Nathan Watson and second placed Jamie McCanney.
This weekend the Norwich Vikings Club will be hosting the fourth round of the Eastern Centre Motocross Championship at Cadders Hill. The event is a re-run of the cancelled meeting that was planned for the 12th June. Sunday’s meeting will also feature a round of the NGR Over 30’s Championship, Practice will be starting at 10am and the first race of the day will follow soon after practice. Admission prices for spectators will be £7 for Adults and £2 for Children Under 16.
This weekend round 7 of the SWOR championship will be taking place at Moreleigh. The circuit has been power harrowed and there is a bit of rain forecast which should make the circuit perfect for racing on Sunday. As usual there is prize money for the Experts. SWOR Promoters would like to thank all their sponsors for the 2011 season. Main race sponsors this year have been Dirt Bike Bitz, Travis Perkins, R & D Machinery, Wheeldon Off Road Centre and Totnes Auto Services, and also Fusion Shelters UK Ltd, Brookridge Timber, Ten Tors Pub in Kingsteignton, Friends Motorcycles, Andy Page Plumbing and Heating and Yertiz Catering.
