2011 Season gets into Full Swing
With the 2011 season now moving into March, the number of ACU events taking place across the country in every discipline is naturally increasing each week. With the opening rounds of the British Motocross Championship, British Enduro, British Sprint Enduro and the British Trials Championship having already taken place.
This weekend sees the start of the Women’s Trials Championship taking place at Sharpcliffe Hall in Staffordshire hosted by the Cheadle Auto Cycle Club. The event is the opening round of the Championship and starts at 10:30am. Joanne Coles will be hoping to gain an early advantage as she battles to retain her title. In the Enduro section this weekend marks the first round of the British Sidecar Enduro Championship which will be taking place in Wentwood Forest hosted by the Caerphilly & DMCC. The opening round of the Sidecar Enduro Championship will be run alongside a solo support and the event will feature 7 solo classes and the 2 Sidecar Championship classes.
On the Motocross front the first round of the BYMX Championship will be taking place at the newly revamped Brampton Circuit. The opening round will see the countries best Youth riders hoping to prove themselves early in the season. On a local level the First round of the Eastern Centre Motocross championship will take place on Sunday 13th March at Blaxhall featuring riders like Jake Nicholls and Carl Nunn, while the Teignbridge club will also be running the first of the SWOR Motocross meetings at Littlehempston.
The following weekend, the 19th and 20th March will see the first rounds of the Luscombe Suzuki Leeds sponsored British ACU Solo Youth Trials Championship. The event will form a double headed event, where the Saturday event will take place at Hetor Dornafield in Newton Abbot before moving to Wolversleigh Farm in Sidbury for the Sunday. On Sunday 20th March two big Motocross meetings will be taking place, these being the Hawkstone International, which will feature a strong line up of World class riders and the other meeting taking place is the opening round of the Phoenix Tools Premier Motocross Championship at Landrake. The Phoenix Tools Premier championship is regarded as one of the strongest Centre Championships in the country.
