Congratulations to Scott Redding

The Auto-Cycle Union Ltd, the National Governing Body for Motorcycle Sport in the UK joins the rest of the British Motorcycling public in sending its congratulations to Britain’s new 125 racing star, Scott Redding.

In his first home Grand Prix, in his Rookie season in the 125 World Championships, the 15 year old Gloucestershire racer stunned everyone with his first win at Donington Park.

Scott has already produced some incredible performances this season.  His very first World Championship event saw him qualify in 4th place at Qatar and finish 5th in the race, equalling his previous best result, with several more top 10 qualifying positions and race finishes throughout the season, Donington Park saw him qualify on the front row of the grid, in 4th place, and ride a superb race.  Ideally placed to capitalise on the race leader’s mistake with 5 laps remaining, Scott cruised to a race win by over 5 seconds, his first World Championship podium, giving the expectant crowd a very early reason to celebrate.

Scott spoke to the ACU’s Dave Luscombe shortly after the race,
“I am stunned and so happy!  I’ve not seen my dad yet – I bet he will be bouncing off the pit garage walls with excitement when I find him!” said the somewhat overwhelmed 15 year old.

Scott will be hoping to maintain his Donington form next weekend at the Dutch Grand Prix at Assen.
